June 30, 2004 - This is going to be "live" and "unfiltered." I just walked in the door from watching the premier of Spiderman 2. It's 2:52am at the moment. Wow! This movie is great! I saw the movie at Tinseltown. They were showing it on 4 screens. I arrived around 10:45 and the let me go ahead and enter the theatre. I ran into a guy I stood in line with for the Matrix: Reloaded, so it was nice to catch up with him. The theatre started to fill up by 11. At 11:30, it was packed, save for the front rows. The movie is great. I'll have to digest it all but here are some highlights (This may contain spoilers if you haven't seen the film. To read, highlight the passage below with your mouse): The opening sequence was fantastic. A perfect recap of the first movie. I loved the Alex Ross art. The fight scene between Dr Octopus and Spiderman on the clocktower and then the train was amazing. It looked so real, I'm not sure what was fake and what wasn't. It definately set a new level in movie fight sequences. Bruce Campbell was a hoot, plus the great "Evil Dead" reference that was thrown in the hospital scene was a nice touch. Sure wasn't expecting a guest appearance by Uncle Ben AND Norman Osborn. The ending phrase was perfect "Go get'em, Tiger". People applauded in our theatre. The closing shot of Mary Jane was a great touch and really echoed that "choice" that she made. Go see this film, I think that there's something for everyone in it. There's a few silly things, but nothing that is just so out in left field that it distracts from the movie. Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to bed. |
