Sabertooth
Entire Figure: Sabertooth (X-Men by Toybiz)
Completed: around 1998-1999Details: Once considered the toughest villain in the Marvel Universe, it's Sabertooth. Not to downplay the excellent costume revisions that Jim Lee did for Sabertooth in the pages of X-Meb, but I've always preferred this wild haired version myself.
The figure was made from a Sabertooth figure. I was crazy about the opening mouth action, so I placed a piece of styrene in the jaw joints and then glued his entire mouth. This gives him that slight opened mouth look. I sanded the head and used Supersculpy to make the new hair and sideburns.
The extra fur on the front of this costume, as well as on his arms and legs was made from Supersculpy as well. I used hot glue to make a reverse pattern of the molded fur on the back, and then stamped that pattern into the sculpy.
Since Sabertooth was always seen hunched over when he was with the Marauders, I tried to make his as crouched as possible. I cut the back of his knees and added styrene sheet heels to this shows to lean him forward a little more.
All in all, I like this one. He's a little big in my opinion, but I was somewhat limited with the base figure I used.
